Welcome to a sculpture workshop for 5-8 year old kids in Gerðarsafn Kópavogur Art Museum on Saturday 10 September at 1 p.m. During the workshop we will get to know the works of Gerður Helgadóttir (1928-1975) and create our own sculptures inspired by hers. We will experiment with geometry and create three-dimensional works from two-dimensional forms. Our sculptures will be created with surprising materials that we can find in our own homes. We will experiment with geometry and create different shadows with our sculptures.

Artist Linn Björklund leads the workshop, which is tailored for 5-8 year old kids but the whole family is welcome to attend. The workshop begins at 1 p.m. with a tour through an exhibition of Gerður's works in the collection space +The Collection.

The sculpture workshop is part of family hour in the Kópavogur Culture Houses which will be held every Saturday this winter. Gerðarsafn Kópavogur Art Museum, Kópavogur Library, Natural History Museum of Kópavogur, Héraðsskjalasafn Archives and Salurinn Concert Hall open up their doors and offer a diverse free program for families.

The sculpture workshop takes place in the educational space Gerdur's Studio on the museum's lower floor. In the studio you can also create a wall work inspired by Gerdur´s wire sculptures. Eva Ísleifsdóttir and Sindri Leifsson's exhibitions in the series SCULPTURE / SCULPTURE are open on the museums upper floor as well as the collection space +The Collection. Garðskálinn bistro is open during the museum's opening hours.

Look forward to seeing you!
