The Post Performance Blues Band & David Levine

Weekend Performance Program in Gerðarsafn, 2-3 December.

The Post Performance Blues Band

Friday 2 Dec, 4-6 p.m.

The Post Performance Blues Band performs publicly for the first time at Gerðarsafn next Friday at 4 p.m. The band doesn't rehearse, each concert is therefore also the first rehearsal. Free admission - everyone welcome. Happy Hour at Garðskálinn café from 4-6 p.m.

The Post Performance Blues Band consists of  students from masters program in Performing Arts at The Icelandic Academy of Arts. The project is partly a continuation of a workshop with artists BoyleANDshaw and Adam Gibbons. The happening will take place within their installation at Gerðarsafn.

The Post Performance Blues Band doesn't rehearse. It's blue, it's a bloody mary, it's an anticlimax, it's a new beginning without an end. It is searching for an identity at Gerðarsafn this Friday.“

David Levine: Sepulchral City

Saturday 2 Dec, 1-5 p.m.
The performance piece Sepulchral City by the American artist David Levine takes place in the cultural houses around Hamraborg every Saturday between 13-17. The work consists of fragments from Joseph Conrad´s Heart of Darkness, published in 1898. Heart of Darkness has entered the Western canon as a scathing critique of colonialism. The project recently received great reviews in Artforum,  more information about the work and the exhibition That Time can be found here.

Gerðarsafn is open daily. 11-17 Tuesdays to Sundays. Garðskálinn café is open at the same times and offers lunch and refreshments.
