Normality, poetry and food

The exhibition NORMALITY IS THE NEW AVANT-GARDE opened recently at Gerðarsafn Kópavogur Art Museum. The exhibition considers manifestations of the everyday in Icelandic contemporary art.

The exhibition explores the everyday from the perspective of eleven artists, revealing admiration for that which is extraordinarily ordinary.

Poem festival in the Culture Houses in Kopavogur

21. - 28. january 2017 

A poem festival takes place in the Culture Houses in Kopavogur in honour of poet Jón úr Vör who was born a hundred years ago. Among the program are a poem concert for children, Ég sá sauð, in Salurinn Concert Hall and a children‘s poem workshop Búum til bók at Kopavogur Library. On Thursday 27 January there will be a Grassroot evening at Garðskálanum bistro in Gerðarsafn – Kópavogur Art Museum where one can listen to the newest in Icelandic poetry. þar sem hægt verður að hlýða á ferska strauma í íslenskri ljóðagerð. New menu at Garðskálinn bistro

Garðskálinn bistro now offers a new menu featuring gourmet dish of the day, freshly baked sourdough bread with the days topping and filling soups. On weekends the bistro offers brunch quiche with poached eggs and a selection of toppings.

Gerðarsafn is open 11-17 Tuesday to Sunday. Garðskálinn is open at the same times and offers lunch and refreshments.
