SCULPTURE / SCULPTURE: Habby Osk

SCULPTURE / SCULPTURE is a series of solo exhibitions that test the sculpture as a medium in Icelandic art today. The first two solo exhibitions of the series present contemporary artists Habby Osk and Baldur Geir Bragason.

Habby Osk (1979-) graduated with a BFA in Fine Art from AKI ArtEz Institute of the Arts in Enschede in the Netherlands 2006 and a MFA from School of Visual Arts in New York in 2009. She has had six solo exhibitions in Iceland and the United States and participated in numerous group exhibitions internationally.

The title refers to the exhibition Sculpture/sculpture/sculpture that was displayed in Kjarvalsstaðir Reykjavík Art Museum in 1994 with works by 27 Icelandic sculptors. The exhibition opened the same year as Gerðarsafn Kópavogur Art Museum opened its doors to visitors. Gerðarsafn is founded in honour of sculptor Gerður Helgadóttir (1928-1975), a pioneer of three-dimensional abstract art.
