SARA BJÖRNSDÓTTIR: FLÂNEUR

Reykjavik Art Festival 2016

Sara Björnsdóttir‘s exhibition Flâneur is an autobiographical journey through the artist‘s mystical state of mind during a much needed working period in London. She simulates the lyrical demeanor of the flâneur that strolls aimlessly through the city in search for everything and nothing.

Text works and collages create stories, moments, feelings of anguish and rebellion. Sara intertwines these works with a spoken narrative about her problems, adventures and eccentric state of mind during this time.

Sara Björnsdóttir is born 1962 in Reykjavik. She studied at Chelsea College of Art & Design in London in 1996-1997 and Iceland College of Art and Crafts in 1991-1995. She has worked extensively as an artist from graduation and has exhibited her work in numerous group exhibitions and solo shows. Her artwork borders the political and personal where she takes a direct approach to her subject matter. Her personal insight can tug at our heartstrings as well as sting by revealing harsh truths.

The exhibition will open as part of Reykjavik Art Festival 2016. Further info at www.listahatid.is
