Magnús Á. Árnason

1894 - 1980

Magnús Á. Árnason (1894-1980) was born in Narfakot in Innri Njarðvík. He studied art and music composition for 12  years in San Francisco. Árnason was a very versatile artist: being a painter, sculptor, composer and writer. Around 1930 he produced symbolist miniature plaster casts. He is also well known for his plaster portraits of poets and children. In painting, his main subject was landscape.

In 1983 the museum recieved a gift from the Memorial fund of Barbara and Magnús Á. Árnason with 300 works of art by the artists.
